This Dell PowerVault MD1420 is a 2U MD-series storage expansion chassis with 24 front drive bays for adding external disk capacity to a Dell direct-attached storage environment. It connects through the enclosure’s external SAS infrastructure to a supported Dell storage controller or HBA, with drive support determined by the installed I/O modules, backplane, drive carriers, controller, cabling, and firmware level.
