Dell PowerVault ME424
The Dell PowerVault ME424 is a 2U storage expansion enclosure for PowerVault ME array environments, adding 24 front-access 2.5-inch drive bays to increase shared storage capacity behind an ME controller enclosure. It connects to a PowerVault ME controller shelf or another expansion shelf through SAS expansion ports and functions as a disk expansion shelf within the array, not as a standalone host server.
Compatibility depends on the attached PowerVault ME controller model, supported drive types and capacities, expansion module generation, firmware level, shelf numbering, and SAS cabling layout. Final usable capacity and redundancy depend on the installed drives, RAID configuration, controller settings, power supplies, I/O modules, and rack power and cooling available for the enclosure.
