This Intel Xeon Platinum 8470 is a 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable server processor based on the Sapphire Rapids platform and the FCLGA4677 socket. It provides 52 cores and 104 threads, a 2.00GHz base frequency, up to 3.80GHz turbo frequency, 105MB cache, 16GT/s Intel UPI, and a 350W TDP for high-density compute workloads such as virtualization, database services, analytics, and application hosting. The processor supports 1- or 2-socket server designs, 8-channel ECC DDR5 memory up to 4800 MT/s at 1DPC or 4400 MT/s at 2DPC, and PCIe 5.0 expansion with up to 80 lanes. Installation requires a server board and BIOS that support 4th Gen Xeon Scalable CPUs, an FCLGA4677 processor socket, heatsink and airflow capacity rated for 350W processors, and memory population that follows the platform’s DDR5 channel and DIMM-per-channel rules.
