This Dell flex bay kit is for PowerEdge R740xd2 servers with the 24-bay chassis layout and a 2 x 3.5-inch LFF flex-bay position. It supports two additional 3.5-inch drives in the flex-bay area and should be aligned with the server’s existing backplane, storage controller, internal cabling, drive carrier, and airflow layout; it is not intended for R740xd2 chassis configurations that lack the matching 24-bay plus 2-drive flex-bay arrangement.
