Our History
2020
Construction was completed on our building expansion, adding nearly 13,000 sq. ft. to our facility and bringing all operations under one roof.
2019
To streamline operations and eliminate the need for a separate second location, ground was broken in September of 2019, on a major expansion at our primary facility.
2017
Out with the old, in with the new. In late 2017, STI launched a new website, with a more powerful and modern platform, adding more user-friendly system configurators and a much simpler checkout process.
2015
STI launched STI Asset Recovery services to offer customers on-site hardware removal, including data sanitization & destruction, and thorough audit of all recycled and remarketed assets, all while adhering to a strict zero-landfill policy.
2013
STI proudly attained Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) national certification from NWBOC, as a woman-owned and woman-controlled business. This certification has been maintained and re-certified every year since.
2012
As volume continued to increase, a second location known as "STI North" was added in 2012, to accommodate larger shipments and to help streamline our exhaustive testing processes. Located within a mile of our primary facility, "North" was the first stop for every piece of hardware, and was where each component was inspected, cleaned and tested, before making its way to our shelves. Also in 2012, STI went through the rigorous process of obtaining ISO 9001 Certification, which has been maintained and re-certified every year since.
2008
STI was proud to be named the world's first server-specific Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher. Previously this partner designation had only been given to PC and laptop refurbishers. In the same year, STI's entire staff of technicians and Account Executives also achieved Dell Certified status, which has been maintained every year since.
2006
With sales steadily increasing, STI quickly outgrew it's previous location and in 2006, moved into what is still our primary location, (at the time) a 16,000 sq. ft. standalone facility. Additional staff was added in sales, marketing, production, inventory, customer service, quality assurance and shipping.
2005
In 2005, STI moved into a larger commercial space in a south Overland Park, KS industrial park. Three full-time sales reps came on board, along with new technical and logistics staff. Reliance on Ebay as a primary sales channel was replaced by direct sales as relationships with our customers strengthened.
2003
Following the success of several private roadside computer sales, STI (Stallard Technologies, Inc.) was officially founded in 2003. Inventory was expanded to include enterprise level servers, networking appliances and racks. A small 2-room commercial space was leased in a stripmall in south Overland Park, KS, to refurbish and store hardware. A small number of employees came on board to assist with builds and shipping, and systems were sold primarily on Ebay.
2002
Some current giants of the tech industry had humble beginnings "in a garage". STI's origins were similarly humble, at a garage sale, on CEO Whitney Elliott's father's driveway, after purchasing and rebuilding a bulk lot of Dell workstations. The systems all sold within 2 days, and the profits were used to purchase several more lots of computers, which also sold quickly.
