Originally intended for enterprise datacenter and ISP applications, the Dell PowerEdge 1855 is still an excellent choice for those looking for an affordable yet powerful rack-dense blade system with a wide range of I/O module options.

The 7U enclosure is capable of housing up to ten PE 1855 blade servers, with a wide range of I/O module options and add-ons, including support for Fibre Channel SANs. The unit requires 220V power for operation, and four hot-swappable 2100 watt power supplies provide total power redundancy. Either analog or digital KVM's available.

Each Dell 1855 blade features two Xeon processors (64-bit single-core or dual-core) with 800MHz front side bus, two easily accessible hot-swappable U320 SCSI hard drives with integrated PERC 4/im, and are capable of up to 16GB of RAM. Each blade also features status indicators, power and KVM selector buttons, as well as the proprietary Y-cable port for connection of 2 USB devices and monitor.
